Organizational Development for Leaders: Leadership Masterclass

Secret Tips that shouldn't be secret

Throughout my professional career, I have often thought that managers should also know and be able to do many things that are invaluable to me in organizational consulting and leadership coaching. After all, the internal part of a management job is nothing more than organizational development.

In doing so, I have repeatedly found that most managers are unfamiliar with or neglect important concepts in this field, and that they too often fail to exploit the potential of their influence or are insufficiently aware of their influence. Something seems to be missing in current management training programs.

So I thought to myself: if I had the opportunity to put together a leadership development program for experienced managers, incorporating the best bits of everything I've learned, with concepts that I believe can catapult leadership to the next level if they are used – what would be on the menu? What would be the essence?

My Hit List

The following four focal points and corresponding offerings emerged:

  1. Systemic leadership: Key aspects of systems thinking, implications for your leadership work, learning-, performance-, and growth-oriented interventions, the interface between systems theory and people orientation, a model for aligning all forces within an organization. (1 day)

  2. Personal and communication requirements for leaders: your self-image as a leader, your relationship to power and your own ego, your moral compass and inner clarity, dealing with regret, accepting uncertainty, and more. (1 day, can be supplemented with follow-up events at the participants' request.)

  3. Organizational design: the Viable System Model as a cybernetic model for viable organizations. A conceptual model for determining how your organization needs to be structured in order to be capable of learning and performing well in the long term, and a good model for conducting a fitness check for your company. (1.5 days)

  4. Case reflection: Regular joint reflection on the above dimensions using practical leadership cases in a group of experienced and committed leaders. The concepts are relatively easy to understand, but putting them into practice can be challenging. Insights are anchored by sticking with it, applying them together, and engaging in constant personal reflection. I highly recommend using this format for at least a year to gain personal confidence in applying what you have learned.

My Offer

I would like to offer different approaches to this content:

  • As an external offer for interested managers: as soon as a group of at least six participants has been formed, we will look for dates and locations.
  • As an in-house offering for your company.
  • As a complete modular package or as individual modules if you are interested in a specific focus area.
  • Case reflection as an ongoing format for staying on topic and systematically cultivating leadership qualities.
